Techni-Ice Instructions
Techni-Ice Instructions
To hydrate:
Place the Techni Ice sheet in warm water, then crumple / compress the sheet whilst completely immersed in water so that it releases air bubbles.
- Leave the sheet to absorb water and unfold whilst still submerged in water until fully hydrated (approximately 20 to 30 minutes). Massage any cells which have not expanded.
- Remove the sheet from the water and towel dry thoroughly, thus ensuring that any excess water does not become ice on the outside of the sheet during the freezing process.
Your Techni Ice sheet is now ready to freeze or heat.
To freeze:
Techni Ice should be frozen for at least 18–24 hours in a domestic freezer or ice compartment of a domestic fridge. For the best freezing results, leave Techni Ice in the freezer for 3 to 4 days, the time it takes to reach freezer temperature.
To heat:
Place the hydrated sheet in the microwave and heat for approximately 2 to 3 minutes in periods of 1 minute, making sure that the pack does not become too hot.
CAUTION: Check to make sure the sheet is not too hot before placing it on the body. Remove immediately from the body if it feels too hot. For maximum soothing relief, place a towel between the body and the Techni Ice.
Hypoglycemia Alarm Instructions
Hypoglycaemia Symptoms Alarm Instructions
TURN ON
When preparing for sleep, strap the monitor securely to your wrist or ankle and press the button once (same button for “ON” and “OFF”). Three quick beeps will sound to signify it is “ON”. Check the status at any time by pressing the button once for two quick beeps.
WHEN ALARM SOUNDS
The monitor will sound a continuous series of 4 beeps and vibrate when it detects either perspiration or a drop in skin temperature. The monitor will continue to sound until turned off.
TURN OFF DURING ALARM
Pressing the button twice within 1 second will cause the monitor to sound one long beep before shutting off. At this time, appropriate action should be taken to determine if hypoglycaemia is present e.g., blood test.
TURN OFF WITHOUT ALARM
While not wearing the monitor, it should be turned off to conserve battery life. Do this by holding the button down for 10 seconds to de-activate the alarm.
DETERMINE CAUSE OF ALARM
When awakened by the alarm, turn the monitor off while it is still on your wrist. Wait 10 seconds and turn it on again. If it alarms again within the next 60 seconds, perspiration was the cause, as it is still present on the surface of the skin. If it does not alarm within 60 seconds, it was likely due to a drop in skin temperature.
LOG ALARMS
It may be helpful to provide your doctor with a record of the following:
• Date and time of alarm.
• Bedtime blood sugar.
• Blood sugar at time of alarm.
• How you felt (cold, sweaty, confused, other).
ALARM TEST
To test the monitor, turn it on and:
1. Place a wet finger over both metal sensors and hold for 5- 10 seconds;
2. The alarm should activate to indicate proper operation;
3. Turn the alarm off by quickly pressing the button twice;
4. If the alarm did not activate, replace the battery and retest;
5. If this fails, return the device for service.
BATTERY REPLACEMENT
The monitor’s battery should last at least 6 (six) months under normal usage. To replace, simply pry the battery drawer open and replace the battery with the large f lat positive (+) side facing downward. Dispose of used batteries promptly and correctly.
SENSOR REPLACEMENT
When the monitor’s metal sensors become tarnished they may be replaced using the special tool that comes with new sensors available where you purchased your monitor.
WARNING
The monitor’s two metal sensors must be in contact with the skin prior to turning on in order to establish a baseline skin temperature reference. The sensors must remain in contact with the skin in order to detect a skin temperature drop.
The monitor will not be effective for those who do not exhibit symptoms of perspiration or a drop in skin temperature.
Never immerse the monitor in water or leave in a steam filled bathroom.
Do not substitute the monitor for any other means your doctor has provided you to determine the onset of hypoglycaemia.
SAFETY
LOW BATTERY
A low battery will automatically be sensed and denoted by a continuous chirp indicating the time for replacement.
ACCIDENTAL TURN ON
Repeatedly pressing the button by accident will not interfere with normal operation.
CLEANING
The monitor may be cleaned with a damp cloth.
WARRANTY
The monitor undergoes extensive testing before being shipped and is guaranteed to be free of
manufacturer defects for a period of one year from date of purchase.
Giant Biosensor Limited will at its sole discretion repair or replace any defective monitor which is returned prepaid by the purchaser. Record the serial number and date of purchase prior to shipping.

Once hydrated and frozen, a Techni Ice pack is inserted inside the inner lining of the case, along with your insulin. This helps to keep the insulin cool for many hours.

Techni-Ice Cold or Hot Packs
Techni-Ice dry Cold / Heat Packs
At last, a new technology that is a vast improvement on traditional ice packs / gel packs and which can also be heated.
Techni Ice reusable packs are revolutionary because they can be used hot, cold or frozen. They are ideal for keeping food hot or cold, medication cool or warm and are especially useful for hot or cold compresses on any part of the body.
Techni Ice reusable 4-ply packs comprise:
2 non-woven textile layers, which encapsulate a special cross-linked polyacrylate polyalcohol co-polymer refrigerant combined with a post treated trade secret formula.
2 heavy-duty plastic layers, containing one-way micro-perforation technology.
These 4 layers are bonded together, thus ensuring that each sheet withstands the harshest of operational climates, with performance that can only be described as revolutionary.
Thanks to this advanced and incredible technology, the sheets can be frozen right down to minus 190C (that’s more than twice as cold as dry ice!). Techni Ice reusable packs are often frozen in blast freezers to minus 80C when used in dry ice applications.
A Techni Ice reusable dry pack starts as a flat sheet, which absorbs water through a special perforation technology in its surface. The process takes approximately half an hour, after which it is ready to be placed in the freezer, fridge or microwave – see separate instructions.
Each sheet (39.5cm x 28cm) is divided into 24 (Standard Type) or 48 (Elliptical Type) individually sealed cells, which means the sheet is flexible when either frozen or heated. It can also be cut to any convenient size. The same sheet can be used for freezing on one occasion and then heating for another application.
Hypoglycemia Symptoms Alarm
Hypoglycaemia Symptoms Alarm
Helps Detect Low Blood Sugar Whilst Sleeping
This alarm detects two symptoms of hypoglycaemia / hypoglycemia and will awaken you during sleep. It is also known in the USA as Night Sweat Alarm.
The Hypoglycaemia Symptoms Alarm is a sleep monitor, which checks for symptoms of hypoglycaemia. It is worn on the wrist or ankle and sounds an audible alarm and vibrates to awaken those people with insulin dependent diabetes who may suffer from nocturnal hypoglycaemia (low blood sugar while sleeping) and do not wake up soon enough to take corrective action.
The Alarm triggers an alert upon detecting the presence of perspiration or a decrease in skin temperature, two common symptoms associated with hypoglycaemia.
Features of the Hypoglycaemia Symptoms Alarm include a sleek, ergonomic design and a comfortable adjustable elastic strap. Other than the purchase price, the only on-going costs to run the monitor are replacing the battery a couple times annually and the metal sensors occasionally. Your purchase confidence is ensured through a 1 year warranty against manufacturer defects. – see separate instructions.
• Hypoglycaemia symptoms are unique to each person and this device does not detect hypoglycaemia, only 2 common symptoms.
